Isabelle’s fourth birthday came in with blizzard number two of the winter. Her Princess Party had to be canceled and rescheduled due to the snow… I was so sad to tell her this news, but she amazed me once again; when I told her about the storm coming and the bad roads and driving hazards I thought she would melt into a pile of tears… but she didn’t – she thought for a moment and then said “Mommy it is okay, we can have my party in the Spring when all the snow is gone”. I love her so much. Read the rest of this entry »

Liam’s First Birthday

March 14, 2010

I know I am blogging about this months late (I didn’t have a blog then … does that count?) but want to have this down in blog history too.

Liam turned One December 7th 2009 – wow a year! It was a hard year at times and a miraculously happy one too. I think back to those early days in the NICU and how tiny and helpless Liam was – and how scared I was – at a year old he is a happy healthy big guy who we have nicknamed “Captain” … Captain Happy, Captain Stinky, Captain Smarty Pants … In every way he has changed from those days in the NICU Read the rest of this entry »

Well after a trip to the grocery store, on a day that must have been seniors day, I decided it was time to cut Liam’s hair… Not one, not two, not three but I believe five or more little blue hair ladies came up to say hello to Liam and each one of them wanted to tell me how pretty my daughter was (he was dressed in head to toe navy blue people!) … and a few man even commented how good my little girl was at shopping… One lady, even after I told her my daughter was actually my son, said a couple more times how pretty HER eyes were – now I know she could have been slightly deaf … but really a girl? Yes it is true – Isabelle is taking ballet lessons … life goes full circle. Seeing her first ballet classes brought me back to the day I took dance at the Orange Hall in Alliston, then at the Dance Studio in Bradford. Isabelle loves any and everything to do with dance. She must have two dozen storybooks on the subject, ballet barbies, ballet costumes for her dolls, as well as about a kazzillion ballet dress-ups for herself.

Belle’s dance classes are at the YMCA, she had her first little dance recital just before Christmas. It was so super cute. Her class is now practicing for the seasons end recital. It is just so hard to watch the teacher trying to get a class of 3-4 year old girls to do anything at the same time to the rhythm of the music. Oh the patients she must have.

The Snowest Winter

March 14, 2010

This winter we have had – count them – three blizzards! This has made for plenty of fun for the kids and many many photo moments for us – the parents. Isabelle loves shedding and making super cool snow forts, with furniture and all. Here are a few photo highlights!
